I also read this book. It was about a group of pioneers trying to get to California. They had to hurry because winter was coming. One person thought they had a shortcut and they took it even though one woman didn't want to. It ended up NOT being a shortcut. They got stuck in snow storms, people froze and starved to death and eventually they "used what God provided". At first I didn't understand what that meant. But then I discovered that they actually had to eat some of those that passed away. There were only a handful of people that lived to get to California because of the bad weather.Friday, August 14, 2009
